Everyone who loves slime adores it for different reasons. Some want to make the biggest and best slime bubbles, while others enjoy stretching it as far as they can. Some love to constantly experiment with bold colors, while others couldn’t care less and prefer to create the ideal texture over color.

If you mainly care about making new and interesting textures, crunchy slime is right up your alley. The special add-ins for crunchy slime transform your sensory experience by making it sound and feel totally different. If you’re curious about it, here are our tips and tricks for how to make crunchy slime.

Assemble Regular Slime

Ingredients

At its foundation, crunchy slime has all the same ingredients as other varieties. To start, gather some glue and an activator. Dope Slimes recommends Elmer’s Glue-All and borax with water for these base ingredients. If you like, pick up some food coloring to turn your slime all kinds of wacky colors.

Putting Everything Together

No matter the size you’re going for, add equal amounts of water and glue. In a separate container, mix one teaspoon of borax in about one cup of water. Then, combine the water and glue combo with the borax solution and mix to create the slime. To make the ideal base for crunchy slime, make sure it’s a bit stickier than your normal slime so it can hold your bead add-ins. To accomplish this, stir in your borax solution slowly—you may not need it all.

It’s Crunch Time

With your slime intact, you’re ready to make it crunchy. To do this, find some fishbowl or foam beads. Then, place your slime in a bowl and pour them in. As you mix, don’t be hesitant about adding more—especially if your slime is stickier, it can hold a surprising number of beads. Maxing out the beads boosts its crunchiness when you start playing with it.

While foam beads look best in an opaque slime made with Elmer’s Glue-All, clear fishbowl beads fit better with translucent slime made from clear glue.

Once you finish, have fun squeezing it around in your hands and listening to the interesting squelching sounds the beads produce. This will occupy you or your kids for some time. To ramp things up, don’t be shy about adding other fun add-ins too, including fimos, charms, and pom-poms.
